Many also call him the "Energy King," he has built a notable career across African television and international live event stages. He gained widespread public recognition as a lead television host on HipTV, particularly through hosting popular segments like Streetz. Over his career, he has worked as an On-Air Personality (OAP), Voiceover Artist, Video Jockey, Event Compère & Live Host. Beyond television, MC Rhelax hosts high-profile concerts, award ceremonies, weddings, and corporate events across the world. Long before he was commanding the attention of packed auditoriums at weddings and award nights, he was a primary school prodigy, leading the cultural dance group from Primary 1 and sweeping "Best Actor" accolades before he even hit double digits. His trajectory wasn’t just a fluke of childhood confidence, it was the prologue to a lifelong calling. When most students are simply trying to blend in during their first year of secondary school, MC Rhelax was busy breaking barriers. At the prestigious Mayflower Secondary School, he made history as the first JSS 1 student to ever climb the stage and dance. That single moment of unfiltered courage propelled him to instant popularity. From there, the microphone became his permanent companion. Whether he was representing the school at Press Day, standing as a delegate for Commonwealth Day, or delivering what was hailed as the best speech by a student in Mayflower’s history, he was already refining the voice that would eventually captivate a nation.The transition to university life at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) only amplified his platform. MC Rhelax didn’t just attend classes, he dominated departmental events, transforming ordinary student gatherings into electric, must-attend experiences. He took his undeniable charisma to the airwaves, becoming a beloved and recognized voice on campus radio. His sharp wit and effortless crowd control earned him the highly coveted title of Nigeria's Best Campus Comedian, not once, but twice.
LENSVISION: Before "MC Rhelax" became a staple across screens and stages, what specific memory or moment signaled that a microphone belonged in your hand?
Funny thing is I have always been around the corridors of fame, from Primary One, I have been the leader of all the cultural dance group in my primary school, best actor, secondary school I was the first Jss1 student to climb the stage to dance, so I instantly became popular, representing my school at press day, common wealth day and all, I gave the best speech as a student in mayflower secondary school, when I got to uni, I continued as a master of ceremonies hosting departmental events here and there, joined a radio station Futa Fm as a broadcaster, received two times Nigeria’s best campus comedian, I have honestly always been around fame.
You have hosted events across Africa, Europe, and North America. You have also received an Excellence Award from the Mayor of Brampton, and an Honorary Doctorate in Broadcast Media. Having achieved these milestones, how do you feel?
I feel grateful for such a privilege, I’m thankful to God for giving me the boldness, courage and gifting, I mean I take Joy to the whole world.. that’s whole lot, to be entrusted with such a great task, every wedding, every birthday, every dinner, every award night another opportunity to share this massive Joy God put in me.. I also feel like I’m just starting, so much I have accomplished yet there’s still a lot to be done! But it’s very doable.. seeing how far I have come!
Controlling the tempo of an event is what you do best, have you ever encounter a "cold" or disengaged audience? If yes, how did you deal with the moment?
Yes ooo, there are different cold moments, it’s part of the hard rocks you will meet before meeting crude oil in our own industry, Just make sure you understand it’s really not about you, people are going through different issues of life, if they suddenly grow cold it’s really not that you ain’t good, so take it as it comes and never allow anyone steal your joy.. because you are there to share the joy, so don’t let their mood steal your own Joy…!
